The Oakland Athletics are seeking a qualified candidate to work as a seasonal intern in the public relations office during the 2010 season. The intern, who will receive a $1,000 stipend, is expected to work between 25-40 hours a week when the team is at home. This intern is expected to commit to the full year internship beginning March 29 through the conclusion of the baseball season.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Produce game notes for A’s game program and luxury suites
• Assist in production of post-game notes during game
• Copy and distribute game notes, statistics, lineups, box scores and additional game day information
• Assist public relations staff in all game day and press box operations
• Facilitate media requests in press box during game
• Assist in various projects for the A’s website
• Assist the media relations staff on specific community and off-the-field events
• Responsible for various written and photo projects for the A’s website
• Other public relations duties and research projects as assigned
Qualifications:
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Basic knowledge of baseball and official scoring
• Self starter and multi-task oriented with minimal supervision
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and decision-making skills
• Organized, able to follow directions and meet all deadlines established
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and occasional holidays

BOSTON BRUINS COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP
Your Role: The Boston Bruins Communications Internship is a position that fulfills a variety of roles within the Bruins Communications Department. Interns will gain experience working in the Public Relations, Media Relations, and Communications aspects of the department. Essential duties are as follows:
-Compiling press clippings for distribution to Bruins management and coaching staff
-Compiling stat packets for distribution to Bruins management and coaching staff
-Authoring feature stories for the Boston Bruins website, bostonbruins.com
-Assisting in the gameday media operations for all Boston Bruins home games
-Coordinating interviews between members of the local and national media and Bruins players
-Transcribing coach and player interviews for distribution to local media
-Working with the Bruins Communications staff to create and develop pitches to publicize the Bruins players, staff and organization
-Assisting in the media operations of the NHL Draft including research of prospects and drafted players, coordinating interviews with drafted players, authoring biographies of drafted players and authoring feature stories on bostonbruins.com (Summer only)
-Assisting in the media operations of the Bruins Development Camp – a week-long camp for Bruins prospects and draft picks. This will include coordinating interviews with players and local/national media, authoring biographies of attendees, transcribing coach and player interviews after practices and authoring feature stories on bostonbruins.com (Summer only)
Our Expectations: This is a writing-intensive position as prospective candidates will publish stories on the Boston Bruins website and should possess strong writing backgrounds. Number of Openings: Up to 5 students
Hours Required: Approximately six hours per game night worked, arriving three hours before game-time and ending approximately one hour after game ends. Schedules can be adjusted to meet needs of student’s internship program. Student should expect a maximum of approximately 120 hours. In spring semester, preference given to applicants with availability through the end of the NBA Finals, as late as the end of June
Qualifications:
- College juniors, seniors, or graduate students working for earned credits
- Strong computer skills preferred; ability to use Microsoft Word required
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills are required

- Assist Sixers Media Workroom, including postgame support
- Distribution of game credentials at Wachovia Center press entrance
- Assistance with press operations during games including the recording and transcribing of postgame press conferences

2009-10 LAC Game Night Internships–Public Relations/Communications – Los Angeles Clippers (Los Angeles, CA)

Applicants must be detail oriented, have customer service experience, strong communication and organizational skills and have an outgoing personality. The ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and in a timely manner, work well in a team environment, perform under tight deadlines and exhibit sound judgment on a consistent basis is required.
Individuals selected must also have a flexible schedule that includes availability starting at 3:00pm Monday through Friday and all day on weekends. (ONLY APPLICANTS THAT MEET THE SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEED APPLY) Internships will begin in the last week of September 2009 and run through May or June 2010, averaging two to three games per week. COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS
WHO WE ARE…
The Los Angeles Communications Department is responsible for all media relations, public relations and broadcasting issues involving the Team. This department creates all of the Club’s publications and handles all player interviews.
GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
HOME & PLANE PACKS
•Deliver packets of information made for all home coaches, team broadcasters and beat writers
•Include game notes, clippings, next opponent notes and all relevant NBA/Clippers news of the week.
RESERVED TAGS
•Location markers in all media areas and photo wells
•Cards are placed in their appropriate positions indicated by the seating chart.
PRESS GATE/MEDIA WILL CALL
•Location where all media pick up their credentials and tickets for that evening’s game. •Monitored from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (Or 2 1/2 hours prior to tip-off)
•Two 1 1/2 hour shifts will be assigned
PRESS ROOM
•Must be monitored by at least one intern AT ALL TIMES
•Keep stocked at all times with game notes, next opponents’ notes, GAMETIME programs, clips and score sheets, and all other information we provide throughout the game.
BROADCAST ATTENDANT
•An individual assigned to serve as runner for both home and visiting television and radio broadcast outlets, as well as, home and visiting PR as needed.
STATS
•Box Scores and Play-by-Plays are generated after each quarter
•Copies are made and then distributed to the media ASAP.
•”Final Books”, a compilation of all stats from the game, are assembled immediately following the game.
NBA SCORES
•All scores of other NBA games are printed from NBA.com or ESPN.com and distributed to media and broadcast members throughout the game
POST-GAME
QUOTES
•Obtained after the game from both teams’ coaches and players.
FAX
•Stats and quotes from the game are sent to a master list immediately following the game.
MAILINGS
•Some outlets are mailed a number of stats following the game.

NON-GAME DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
RUNNING STATISTICAL GAME PACKS
• Interns will assemble packets of information made for all visiting coaches, team broadcasters and beat writers

• An individual will be assigned day before a game to deliver “packs” to visiting team and visiting writers hotels.
OFFICE HOURS
• From time to time interns will have the opportunity to come in the office to assist with special projects
• Interns with excellent writing skills will have the to opportunity to contribute content for the Clippers website
